THE DOGS OF SPAIN

One thing Gina liked to talk about a lot was walking from Calais to Cadiz. Walking & hiking being her favourite past-times & Cadiz being her favourite place on earth.
We were going to go together until we realized she was really ill.
I don't want to go into detail about the illness because, 1: I still can't linger on her memory without feeling emotional and, 2: That isn't the reason for writing this.
The fact is she had breast cancer and from diagnosis to death there were only 5 violently painfull months.
Anyway while she was dying she made me promise that I would still do the walk. Looking back I realise she could see I was drinking and smoking far too much and if I didn't change my ways I would soon be joining her.
Okay then, firstly, Dogs, Rabies injections, micro chips and passports, I spent £300 on theirs and £38 on mine but if i'm going, they're keeping me company.
secondly, tent, roll mat, sleeping bag, rucksack, scorpion cooker, head lamp, walking boots the list was endless. All had to be lightweight & top quality.
